Day-by-day plan

Sample itinerary

Times are planning targets. Attraction hours, road conditions and ticket
availability should be reconfirmed shortly before the trip.

Friday, August 21
Arrival and low-key Dublin afternoon

Arrive at Dublin Airport. Use a taxi or prearranged transfer to The Morrison and leave luggage with the hotel.

Guinness and Jameson tour. The international arrival makes this a tight connection, so avoid scheduling anything beforehand.

Walk Ha’penny Bridge and the nearby Temple Bar streets. Have an early dinner and keep the evening relaxed.

Do not rent the car yet. Central Dublin parking and left-side driving are unnecessary during the first two days.

Saturday, August 22
Historic Dublin

Use the booked admission time for the Book of Kells Experience and Trinity College. Allow time to see the Old Library experience and walk the campus.

Walk to Dublin Castle and the Chester Beatty area.

Lunch, then visit Christ Church Cathedral and St. Patrick’s Cathedral. Add Grafton Street or St. Stephen’s Green as time permits.

Dinner and traditional music near The Morrison.

Kilmainham Gaol: unavailable during your Dublin dates, so it has been removed from this itinerary.

Sunday, August 23
Dublin → Kilkenny → Cashel → Cahir → Cork

Private driver pickup in Dublin and depart for Kilkenny.

Kilkenny Castle — booked. Self-guided admission is confirmed for 9:30 a.m. Keep the castle visit to about one hour so the remainder of the day stays on schedule.

Depart Kilkenny for Cashel. Use the drive and the time before admission for a quick lunch, coffee or restroom stop in Cashel.

Rock of Cashel — target 12:30 p.m. Booking is not open yet. Choose the 12:30 slot when it becomes available; allow approximately 1–1½ hours.

Cahir Castle — booked for all-day admission. Continue directly from Cashel and allow approximately one hour. Because the ticket is flexible, shorten or skip the interior only if the earlier schedule has slipped substantially.

Depart Cahir for Cork.

Arrive at Residence Inn by Marriott Cork, Camden Place, check in and choose an evening option from the next tab.

August 23 booking status: Kilkenny Castle is confirmed at 9:30 a.m.; Cahir Castle is confirmed with flexible all-day admission; Rock of Cashel should be booked for 12:30 p.m. when that date opens.

Sunday, August 23 — Evening
Optional Cork evening plans from Residence Inn

Recommended city walk, dinner and music: walk from the hotel through Emmet Place and Cork Opera House, St. Patrick’s Street, the English Market exterior and Oliver Plunkett Street. Have dinner, then hear music at The Oliver Plunkett or Sin É before returning to the hotel.

Marina Market and waterfront: use this informal food-hall option if you reach Cork early enough, then return to the city center for a drink or live music.

Early-arrival history: when the driving day runs ahead of schedule, try St. Fin Barre’s Cathedral or Elizabeth Fort before closing, followed by dinner in the center.

The Sound of Music: Cork Opera House has a 6:00 p.m. performance scheduled for August 23, 2026. The theater is only a short walk from the hotel, but this requires a firm ticket and an on-time arrival.

Low-energy evening: have dinner near Camden Place, walk along the River Lee and stop at Sin É or the hotel bar without committing to a longer route.

Sunday note: the English Market interior is normally closed on Sundays, so include it only as an exterior stop. Reconfirm performance availability, music schedules and attraction closing times before the trip.

Monday, August 24
Blarney Castle → THE VÉRO → Ross Castle

Enter Blarney Castle at opening. Allow time for the castle, the Blarney Stone and the principal garden areas.

Depart the Cork area and travel toward Killarney. Keep lunch flexible en route or after arrival.

Arrive at THE VÉRO, check in or leave luggage, and prepare for a lighter Killarney afternoon.

Visit Ross Castle this afternoon so the Ring of Kerry can start early tomorrow. See the lakeshore and grounds, and join the interior tour if the next available guided time fits.

Optional Killarney National Park time. Fit in Torc Waterfall, Muckross House grounds or a short park walk only if energy and weather cooperate.

Check the separate August 24 evening-options tab for dinner, traditional music, the Effie Neill Dance or a quiet night at THE VÉRO.

Why Ross moved: putting Ross Castle on August 24 protects the full Ring of Kerry day and allows an earlier 8:00 a.m. departure with your private driver on August 25.

Monday, August 24 — Evening
Killarney dinner, pubs and confirmed music options

Hilliard’s and The Killarney Grand: reserve dinner at Hilliard’s, then walk to The Killarney Grand for traditional Irish music. The Grand promotes traditional music and live entertainment nightly, with the later portion becoming livelier.

The Danny Mann: choose this when you want pub food and live Irish music in one location without coordinating separate dinner and entertainment stops.

Effie Neill Dance at the Gleneagle Ballroom: doors open at 8:30 p.m. and the show begins at 9:30 p.m. on August 24. This is cabaret, Irish favorites and dancing rather than a small pub session. Tickets start around €20.

The Laurels: a traditional family-run pub for dinner, a drink and a less nightclub-oriented atmosphere.

Short jaunting-car ride: when Killarney sightseeing finishes early, take a short horse-drawn carriage ride through town or the National Park before dinner.

Stay close: have a drink at THE VÉRO’s wine bar and walk into town only for dinner, or remain at the hotel when the travel day has taken more energy than expected.

Music note: Effie Neill is the confirmed dated performance. Pub performers can rotate, so reconfirm the exact lineup shortly before the evening.

Tuesday, August 25

Ticket guidance: do not prebook the Ring of Kerry stops except any restaurant reservation you want. Kerry Cliffs can be paid on arrival; Skelligs Chocolate is free; Staigue Stone Fort is an unguided honesty-box stop. Prioritize the bold stops and let the driver decide whether the optional ones fit comfortably.

Tuesday, August 25 — Evening
After the Ring of Kerry — flexible dinner and music choices

Bricín and Celtic Whiskey Bar: reserve a later dinner at Bricín, then stop at Celtic Whiskey Bar & Larder for a drink or tasting. This creates a relaxed, distinctly Irish evening without requiring a late concert.

Brendan Shine Dance at the Gleneagle Ballroom: doors open at 8:30 p.m. and the show begins at 9:30 p.m. on August 25. Tickets start around €20. Choose this only if you expect to finish the Ring of Kerry with enough time to eat and return to the hotel first.

The Danny Mann or The Laurels: use one of these for an uncomplicated dinner and music when the scenic day finishes later than planned.

Hilliard’s and The Killarney Grand: have dinner at Hilliard’s, then continue to The Grand for traditional music and, if desired, the later live-band atmosphere.

THE VÉRO: pick up or have an early dinner in town, then return to the hotel for the wine bar and an earlier night before the drive toward Limerick, Bunratty, the Cliffs and Galway.

Timing note: do not make an early dinner reservation on Ring of Kerry day. A reservation around 7:30 or 8:00 p.m. provides more flexibility.

Wednesday, August 26
King John’s Castle → Bunratty → Cliffs → Glenlo Abbey

Private driver pickup at THE VÉRO in Killarney with luggage for the one-way transfer-tour to Galway.

Tour King John’s Castle and see Limerick’s River Shannon waterfront. Keep this visit controlled so the later stops retain enough time.

Tour Bunratty Castle and the principal areas of the Folk Park, with a quick lunch nearby.

Spend approximately two hours at the Cliffs of Moher, allowing for weather and walking conditions.

Continue to Glenlo Abbey Hotel & Estate, check in and have dinner at the hotel or take a taxi into central Galway if energy permits.

Private-driver request: arrange a door-to-door transfer-tour from THE VÉRO to Glenlo Abbey with luggage, King John’s Castle, Bunratty Castle and the Cliffs included. Adare remains an optional photo stop only when the driver confirms the timing works.

Thursday, August 27
Glenlo Abbey → Galway City → Clonmacnoise → Hilton Dublin Airport

Check out of Glenlo Abbey and travel into central Galway. Walk Eyre Square, Shop Street, the Latin Quarter, Spanish Arch and the waterfront.

Leave Galway and stop at the Clonmacnoise monastic ruins on the way east.

Continue to the Hilton Dublin Airport at Northern Cross, check in and confirm the morning airport-shuttle schedule.

Friday, August 28
Morning departure

Use the Hilton Dublin Airport shuttle and allow the airline’s recommended check-in time for a U.S.-bound international flight. Confirm the shuttle departure time with the hotel the evening before.
