I sit here this morning reminiscing with my mom, talking about business affairs and life, the things we think are undone or un-discussed, yet they all worked out and are fine. As we sit I remarked as the CD we had playing in the background played the song “A Mighty Fortress Is Our God” came on which until now I never knew the name I don’t think, but it reminded me of Davey and Goliath the claymation show that used to come on Sunday mornings when I was a kid. It was such an impressionable show a show that I have a fond memory of today, that taught the ‘good life lessons’, that we need to know.
She said wow what a change from when you were a kid, “it goes so fast”, well it seems so fast and the difference is so vast, but 30 years is the pace at which it has gone. A lot of living has happened in that time. Good times, bad times, lean times and sad times all the time and yet a bright future a future with promise and a time to pass.
My mom recognizes as do I the future for her is so short and there seems so much undone, yet the days of shopping together, Christmas and Halloween decorations and all our memories remain. I have such a love and honor for my father, but to a man a dad is so different a love than the love of a mother. A mother is the one who is there, there when you’re sick, there for your school lunch, there for your hurt knee, I love you mom and know that you are there, have been there and one day I will meet you THERE. I am not ready for you to leave yet, I know you know I love you and I know you love me like the greatest child, son, father, businessman and person that ever lived, that no matter my faults, failures and faux pas you still loved me and thought I was the best.
Thank you mom for being my mom, for the baggage I gained, for the understanding you gave, for the model of living for Christ and having the passion to teach others about Christ, mom you have done well! Mom I Love you!
