So sometime last week I got a windows update installed or maybe it was java, because there has been nothing in the way of microsoft showing a fix for it. Anyway, my computer was failing to recognize my external usb drives and then when it did it said they could perform faster in a USB 2.0 port, well guess what I only have usb 2.0 ports you freakin piece’o!
So now for the last 2 days (of the weekend) I have been trying to get my computer back to usable mode for me. I did a complete system restore to factory setting, which unfortunately was due anyway, because that is just a windows thing that needs to be done ever so often. Things where moving along quite nicely as I reinstalled all my software, until…somewhere in the midst of it windows or Java I now think did its update and boom same problem again!
So now monday morning, when I need to be working I am doing a restore point to previous to those updates, uninstalled Java runtime and things seem to be working. We’ll see, I just ran some critical windows updates and I am proceeding to reload software again!
For the record I spent and lot of time searching the Internet and microsoft last night as well as before the ‘hard reset’ looking for a solution to the usb port issue and the device not recognized and apparently it is a Vista thing and you are just skrewed unless you figure a work around.
ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRG! BLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! Sui!!!
Do I really need to buy a new PC to solve this problem? Really? That should not have to be the answer, stay tuned we will see?
